Situated in the leafy suburb ‘Lane Cove’, the site slopes 2 meters from south to north and had 6 matured trees. The client wanted minimalistic architectural style (“European Style” in his words) with lot of natural light. As a response, pure forms with big bold openings was designed, specially towards the north, to embrace nature. A basement has been added to take advantage of the slope. The living areas are interconnected and opens up to the deck, swimming pool and backyard thru operable doors. A piano shaped family living on upper level combined with the void above formal lounge and double height glazing angling inwards with louvers above creates dramatic interplay of light and shade and stretches out to the nature.
